Lower Face Lift (Rejuvelift™) vs. a Traditional Facelift

As we continue to innovate in the field of cosmetic surgery, it’s exciting to offer less invasive options that meet your aesthetic goals with minimal downtime. My Rejuvelift is an excellent example. I developed this lower face lift to effectively rejuvenate the lower third of the face and the neck while giving my patients the freedom of reduced downtime. It is quickly becoming a preferred choice for those seeking a younger, more refreshed look without the extensive recovery associated with traditional methods.

This blog post will explore how Rejuvelift compares to traditional facelift techniques and why it might be the right choice for you.

Rejuvelift: A Modern Approach

I designed the Rejuvelift for people who want significant results without the challenges of a traditional facelift. Here are some of the key benefits of opting for this innovative procedure:

  • No General Anesthetic: Unlike traditional facelifts that require a general anesthetic, Rejuvelift uses local anesthetic and oral sedation. This approach significantly reduces recovery time and the risks associated with going under general anesthesia.
  • In-Office Procedure: The entire procedure is performed in the comfort, convenience, and privacy of my office, eliminating the need for a hospital visit. This can often reduce your costs, too.
  • Reduced Downtime: Since this is a less invasive procedure than a traditional facelift, you can typically resume your normal activities within a week to 10 days, making it ideal for a busy lifestyle.
  • Focused Results: Rejuvelift targets the lower third of the face, enhancing the jawline and smoothing the skin, effectively restoring a more youthful appearance in the areas where aging is often most prominent.
  • Less Surgical Time: Rejuvelift can be performed in about 1.5 to 2 hours. Because a traditional facelift is more extensive, the procedure may take 2 to 6 hours to complete.

Traditional Facelift Techniques

Traditional facelifts typically involve more extensive surgery, possibly requiring general anesthesia and an overnight hospital stay. The recovery period can extend several weeks, with more pronounced swelling and bruising. While traditional facelifts provide dramatic results, they’re not always necessary for every patient, particularly those concerned only with the lower face and neck.

What Are Results Like?

As I’ve already mentioned, a Rejuvelift is less involved than a traditional facelift, making the recovery easier and quicker. Typically, recovery takes about 10 days. Patients are encouraged to return to their usual activities as soon as they feel comfortable, with a follow-up appointment scheduled the next day and then 1 week later for suture removal.

When Is a Rejuvelift Right for You?

Choosing between a lower face lift and a traditional facelift can be challenging. Of course, the best way to determine whether a Rejuvelift is right for you is to schedule a consultation so we can discuss your needs and evaluate the extent and location of your skin laxity. However, there are a few telltale signs a Rejuvelift can give you the revitalized look you want:

  • You want to address aging in the lower third of the face and the upper neck.
  • You have sagging jowls, wrinkles, and excess skin around the chin and jawline.
  • You can’t commit to extended downtime.
  • You can’t take a lot of time off work or other commitments.
  • You have early facial aging.
  • You want to avoid general anesthesia.
  • You want to limit your surgery time.

During your consultation, we can use the latest VECTRA® 3D imaging technology to simulate how these changes will enhance your appearance, allowing you to see the potential outcomes firsthand.

How Can You Enhance Your Lower Face Lift Results?

Many patients combine Rejuvelift™ with nonsurgical procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers, or laser skin resurfacing to maximize the rejuvenation effects. These treatments are ideal for addressing concerns in the upper two-thirds of the face, such as forehead lines or crow’s feet, and further refining the skin’s appearance.

We can also perform additional surgical procedures such as a brow lift, eyelid surgery, or fat transfer with Rejuvelift for a comprehensive anti-aging effect.
