If you are already near or at your target weight, follow a healthy diet and fitness plan, but continue to have stubborn fat in specific areas of your body, you may benefit from CoolSculpting. Good candidates include:
Women concerned about those bulges on the torso sometimes called “muffin top” or “bra bulge”
Men with “love handles” or excess fat in the flanks and waist
Anyone who would like to achieve a moderate fat reduction in their midsection
The CoolSculpting Procedure
CoolSculpting uses a process called cryolipolysis for gently and effectively reducing the targeted fat cells. Since fat cells freeze at a warmer temperature than surrounding tissues, precisely applied cooling can destroy fat cells without harming surrounding tissues. Cryolipolysis is facilitated through a specially designed applicator which draws the tissue up between two cooling panels. Discomfort is minimal, and most patients soon adjust to this sensation, relaxing during the procedure. You can read a book, listen to music, or even sleep.
After the tissue has been precisely cooled for a certain period of time, the targeted fat cells begin to break down. You require no anesthesia or pain medication and your body’s natural cleansing process removes the destroyed fat cells. The result: gradual, targeted fat reduction.
Recovery After CoolSculpting
No downtime is required after the procedure, so you can return promptly to your regular routine. Some patients experience mild redness or bruising or soreness. These symptoms diminish quickly.
CoolSculpting Results and Benefits
While experiences vary, patients usually gradually notice that clothes fit more loosely and their bodies look slimmer. Results can typically start to appear as early as 4 weeks after the first treatment, with the full benefits in about 3 to 4 months. In some cases, after several months, patients seek additional treatment.
A clinical study found: “Treatment resulted in a normalized fat layer reduction of 20.4% at 2 months and 25.5% at 6 months after treatment.”1 Maintaining a healthy lifestyle with proper diet and exercise will help ensure that your great new look lasts.

Is CoolSculpting a good option to improve the appearance of my abdomen after having children?
If you are concerned with excess stomach skin and muscle laxity in addition to fat around the midsection — which often occurs following pregnancy — Dr. Cutolo likely will recommend body contouring surgery, such as a tummy tuck and liposuction. CoolSculpting is best for treating fat alone. He is happy to evaluate your midsection and recommend an option that prioritizes your goals.
How much does CoolSculpting cost?
The cost of CoolSculpting, as with most other aesthetic procedures, depends on a number of variables. The price changes depending on the geographic location of the practice where you get the treatment, the experience and training of the provider, and the number of areas treated. We strive to keep our prices competitive and can give you a customized quote during your consultation.
Is the CoolSculpting procedure safe?
CoolSculpting has an established track record for safely and effectively minimizing unwanted fat in the midsection. The FDA approved the procedure for use in the U.S. more than 5 years ago, and it is now one of the most popular non-surgical fat reduction techniques in the nation and worldwide.
