Breast Augmentation Before & After Case 227
*Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.
Before & After
Case Details
This is a 29 year old female who underwent a breast augmentation 2 years ago with silicone implants that had a textured surface. The textured surface implants have been implicated with a rare lymphoma and have been removed from the marketplace. Smooth implants have not been implicated with this disease and are still available. She was worried that she could develop the disease at a later date and wanted to exchange her implants to smooth ones.
She liked the appearance of the implants in place and wanted to replicate the appearance as close as possible. After comparing the dimensions of the 450cc implants that she had, we chose 445cc silicone implants. The size and shape as well as the cohesivity of the gel were the closest match to what she already had implanted.
Because the scar tissue surrounding the implants is implicated in the lymphoma it was important to remove all of the old scar tissue that was present surrounding the original implants. The new implants could be placed in the pocket after the scar was completely removed.
She recovered quickly and was back to her usual activities in less than one week. She loves the fact that we were able to essentially have the same appearance and feel as what was present prior to the implant removal
She is seen in the post op photos 3 months after the procedure.
