Chemical Peels

Time isn’t kind to our skin; sun exposure, acne scars, age spots, and pigmentation changes can negatively impact skin tone and texture. To restore the skin’s health and appearance, Dr. Cutolo and his highly trained aesthetic staff perform microdermabrasion and chemical peels for New York City and Staten Island men and women.

In contrast to many medical spas, which offer a one-type-fits-all peel treatment, we carefully evaluate your skin’s health and your unique concerns. We use that information to select the right option for your skin type and aesthetic goals, from salicylic peels to microdermabrasion.

Take the first step to youthfully smooth, evenly textured skin. Request a consultation online, or call us today at (718) 720-9400 to schedule a visit.

Your Procedure

After evaluating your skin and concerns thoroughly, we select an appropriate chemical peel or microdermabrasion to enhance your skin’s health and appearance.

Chemical Peels

Each peel is designed for a distinct purpose. For example, enzyme peels contain a natural blend of anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory agents from papaya and pineapple to restore aging skin. Salicylic peels, in contrast, are an antiseptic exfoliant that cleanses your pores and can be used to treat acne and oily skin. A highly popular peel, the TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) peel is more intense and is used to correct uneven skin tone and rough skin. A Lactic Acid Peel, derived from milk, will rejuvenate the skin by the process of exfoliation and will help retain the moisture in the skin’s surface – a great introductory peel for all skin types! Another favorite, the Glycolic Acid peel, is derived from sugar cane and can improve texture, correct solar damage, and reduce the effects of aging. It will also improve acne, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines. We will choose the appropriate peel for achieving your aesthetic goals.

Prior to applying the chemical peel, we will meticulously cleanse your skin. The solution is then applied, and remains on your skin for several minutes to gently and safely remove the outer layers of damaged skin. After cleansing your skin to remove all traces of the peel, we will apply an ointment to protect your skin and help promote comfortable, safe healing.

Microdermabrasion

We specialize in an advanced form of microdermabrasion, which includes a customized procedure featuring exfoliation, ultrasound, light therapy, and gentle moisturizing. After a deep cleansing of your skin, we can perform exfoliation and both ultrasound and/or light therapy. These treatments remove dead skin cells to stimulate the production of collagen and new skin cells. We then moisturize your skin to complete this gentle, rejuvenating procedure.

Recovery

We recommend that our patients rest and limit their movements to enhance their healing. Some patients experience minor discomfort, which can be alleviated with an oral medication like Tylenol. The time needed to heal fully depends on the chemical peel used or microdermabrasion areas treated.

Results and Benefits

Our patients typically experience smoother and refreshed skin after their treatment. Patients concerned with skin discolorations usually have a more even skin tone, while those treated for acne generally experience clearer skin, with a noticeable improvement in their blemishes. In some cases, particularly for patients who want to correct the signs of aging such as wrinkles, laxity and fine lines, Dr. Cutolo may recommend other complementing treatments, such as dermal fillersfat transfer or BOTOX® Cosmetic with your Staten Island chemical peel or microdermabrasion treatment.
